Notice to Bremen Residents – A Call for Volunteers

The Town of Bremen is looking for volunteers to help plan and carry out a Town-wide celebration of the Bicentennial Celebration of the State of Maine to be held on August 8, 2020 at the Bremen Town Center.

This is what has happened so far:

The Bremen Town Center Project (BTCP) Committee is leading this bicentennial effort with the official opening of the children’s play area, the first phase of the BTCP. The Bremen Conservation Commission, Bremen Historical Society, Bremen Fire Department, Bremen Library, and Bremen Patriotic Club will all be taking part in the celebration.  We also expect other groups and individuals in Town to take part in what will be an exciting celebration of Bremen’s contributions to the State of Maine.

The ball is already rolling. The BTCP Committee and Bremen Bicentennial Celebration Chair, Mary Voskian, have been working on the celebration.  Castlebay has been booked for a musical performance, and a variety of food vendors have been scheduled.  Activities for children have been planned that include a storyteller, a creative activity, and outdoor play activities.  Other events are being planned for all members of the community including displays, open houses, and opportunities to enjoy other Town properties.

We need volunteers in the following areas:

*Working with participating groups and organizations as they plan for the event.

*Creating media involvement, newspaper articles, and any materials that can be handed out at the gathering.

*Coordinating and managing displays, open houses, and other Town properties that are participating.

*Assisting with the setup at the Town Office.

*Assisting with the cleanup after the celebration.

*Arranging and managing parking for the event.

*Assisting Castlebay as they get set up.

*Working directly with each participating group at the Town Office site in case they have special or sudden needs.

*Coordinating the activities of the various participating groups.

*Moving amongst the various activities to assure all activities are successful.

*Being a volunteer, ready to assist any particular needs.

This celebration will be exciting, and we hope you will join us in volunteering so that it is a huge success. If you would like to volunteer, and have an idea how you could contribute that is not listed above, please let us know.
